Davidson, North Carolina, the last goodbye.

Some places become unforgettable, not because of where they are, but because of what they quietly represent.

I was racing to get off work.

I should have told my boss at the time that I needed to take a half day. No…instead, I work a full day, get in 5 pm traffic like everyone else and make the haul up I-85 to see you.

I almost drove past the house where our AirB&B was hosted.

LAND! My thoughts when I first saw you, immediately followed by MY MAN!

A hug, a happy embrace we are together at last, even though we just saw each other 9 days prior. (9 days long distance is equal to 167 days by the way…. its been scientifically proven, lol.)

You always pick the best places and the best AirB&B’s and this place did NOT disappoint.

After a night of sleep, and getting ready to enjoy the day, I remember this weekend feeling very different emotionally.

It represented a huge turning point. It was our last weekend together as a long-distance couple.

The next meetup was going to be moving in with me! 🥹

Davidson was absolutely charming. The town area was lively.

The park we walked around with the lake was cozy and full of trees.

But that bookstore we walked into on a stroll wasn’t just any bookstore.

It was our last cool bookstore visit during a transition period.

Sad knowing we have to say goodbye again in roughly 24 hours.

But also excited that this stage of our relationship has come to an end.

Even that was a little sad.

I had built a relationship with you in a state of Celamoria… a place that we VISIT.

But could I have Celamoria in a place we consistently lived?

Cause on that day, during that weekend…

during dinner on that patio under the string lights and you gave me that book…

during that beautiful stroll at night along the college campus in awe of the art sculptures…

during breakfast the next day with teary eyes over coffee…

during another stroll admiring architecture and large trees…

during a little shopping excursion buying gifts from the local markets…

Our version of Celamoria was so grand, I feared it couldn’t be topped.

I feared I could never live in such a state on anticipation again.

What we had was so wonderful, despite the hurt of saying goodbye, I really didn’t want it to end.

But simultaneously, being extremely excited for the future that was awaiting for us on the other side of this very last and final long-distance goodbye.

The goodbye kiss at my car, as I started to depart, I will remember forever. I genuinely loved who we had become up to that point.

Excited and hopeful for what was to come.

Anxious. Happy. Full of awe. Moments of nostalgia for what we were saying goodbye to.

And yes…. fast forward to the near future….

I learned very quickly that we could STAY in Celamoria in our every day lives together, forever. ♾️
