Wish upon a Starman.
You know what’s a cool coincidence?
You told me GG had another competition at Tryon literally the day after I wrote about the first time I visited the year prior.
I gave you a little side smirk.
“Oh really?”
Knowing I had just written about it the day before, I kept my little secret to myself.
So when we pulled up to the most unique Airbnb I had ever seen, I already knew it was going to be an awesome weekend.
The Airbnb you were so excited to surprise me with was indeed amazing.
I had never seen anything quite like it.
So unique, peaceful, and private.
A little quirky.
But modern, clean, and fun.
However…
The real magic of that weekend had nothing to do with the Airbnb at all.
It came from simply looking up.
Stars.
So many, many stars on a clear, dark night in the middle of an isolated little town.
We were both in awe.
We couldn’t believe what we could see.
Hundreds upon hundreds of glittering stars and constellations stretching across the sky.
We had gone to a secluded beach in Mexico Beach just a few weeks earlier, hoping for a view like this, and it didn’t quite happen.
And now, completely unexpectedly, there it was.
The night sky we had wanted to see.
And we were seeing it together.
Holding hands.
Looking up.
Knowing one of our many little dreams had just come true right there in that moment.
And then…
A shooting star quickly zipped across the sky.
“Did you see that?!”
“Yes!” you quickly replied.
“Quick, make a wish!”
And suddenly I had to think of something.
What did I want badly enough to spend my shooting-star wish on?
But it came to me rather fast.
I said it quietly in my head and made it “count.”
We both kept our wishes secret that night.
But I think we both already know what the other wished for.
So, Starman, here’s mine:
Together, under that beautiful, dark, starry sky…
I wished for forever.
I wished to live to be 100 years old with you.
I wished for us to somehow get so much extra time together on this Earth, because even the time we assume we’ll have already feels too short.
Oh, my dearest Starman…
I have a feeling you wished for something pretty similar.
Because forever with you…
somehow still isn’t quite long enough. ❤️
