It is safe to be ourselves.
We cried at the top of Sawnee Mountain.
Not because anything terrible had happened.
Not because we were overwhelmed.
Just…
Because something about that moment made it feel safe to do so.
Maybe it was the view stretching out for miles.
Or maybe it had nothing to do with the mountain at all.
Maybe it was simply you. (Ok, yes… it is always you. 💙)
I remember telling you about the stress I was carrying from work. The uncertainty.
Like always, you listened.
We talked about financial goals. Work dreams for me.
And you said that it would all work out.
Somewhere in the middle of that conversation, tears found both of us.
I leaned my head into your shoulder.
We both felt love. And we both felt so safe.
We felt support in a way we didn’t know we even needed.
There’s something incredibly rare about finding a person who makes you feel safe enough to cry without ever feeling the need to apologize for it.
I love you, Starman. ❤️
