And then, we were married.
After a beautiful, teary-eyed and intimate ceremony,
Minister Kevin said with a cheery smile,
“You two are now officially married”.
We kissed, and it was a done deal!
I didn’t feel a huge shift in that moment.
If anything, it was a tiny bit of relief.
Despite having a backyard elopement with just us and and girls,
there was still planning and logistics that had to be arranged,
and in that moment I was like, ahhh…
it is done.
It turned out to be an absolutely wonderful day,
and I got to marry my beautiful soulmate.
It was official.
We declared our love and promised each other forever.
But the true feeling of being married came later.
After the minister left,
and after the photographer parted ways.
The girls were inside the house,
and you and I were alone in the backyard.
Next to glowing string lights.
The sky dark blue,
rich in that twilight hour.
In that moment, it felt like the fantasy elopement that I once envisioned.
And we played songs that have been the theme of our entire relationship.
“…dear soulmate,
one day I will give this song to you,
dear soulmate,
I can’t wait, to fall in love
with you…”
And in that moment,
holding each other,
admiring the beauty of it all,
listening to those words,
that is when I felt the shift.
And tears filled both our eyes.
It was in that quiet, solo moment between just us
that I felt officially married.
It was subtle;
it felt pure and genuine.
We didn’t marry for show or status…
we just wanted to officially confess our love and promise forever.
“dear soulmate,
I can’t wait, to fall in love
with you.”
Oh, my dearest Starman.
I knew you were my soulmate long before that magical twilight moment we shared on our wedding night.
And I promise you this…
I can’t wait to keep falling in love
with you. ❤️
